Racial justice - “Malden River Works for Waterfront Equity and Resilience” isn’t just the name of our project - it is a rejection of the status quo and a demand for change. Racial justice is an essential part of our work. The Malden River Works Team stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
Environmental justice - as described by partner Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA), “environmental justice is the process of correcting historical inequities by addressing present day barriers that communities of color experience in accessing our natural world, and building a future together where all communities have what they need to drive environmental change. We believe that those most impacted by climate change and environmental racism also hold the most impactful solutions.”
Community Inclusion - The Malden River Works (MRW) Team is organized to promote equitable project outcomes by centering the voices of Malden residents of color. The project is intended to serve as a model for equitable and resilient waterfront development in Malden.
Young and old and black and white. Now is the time to stand and fight. To make these Malden waters stream, Let’s build a dynamic neighborhood team.
